Mountains of Love, with the help of the school, is identifying and prioritizing the needs of the school, children and teachers. Many projects have been undertaken, some completed successfully and many ongoing. The children now have clean drinking water in the school, a roof for protection and benches outside when waiting to come and go, physical therapy equipment, ceiling fans, plenty of specialized books for teaching reading for special needs kids, donated shoes, clothes and toys.
Our Projects – Present and Future:
Food-Bank: We have established a mini food-bank for the children so that each child may eat a nutritious meal every day they are at school. In order to continue we need to raise:
Cost: $10,000 annually
Psychologist: We have hired a special education psychologist for the school to work with the children, families and teachers to improve the children’s lives by educating others in their psychological needs, making a correct diagnosis and treatment plan. In order to continue we need to raise:
Cost: $8,50 00 annually
Medical Care: Provide the students at Emilia with needed medical care including medicines that could help with their disabilities, from hearing aids to anti-seizure medications to prosthetic devices.
Transportation: Provide a van for the school. Most of the families or guardians of these kids do not have transportation, often walking miles to even get the kids to and from school. Visiting a doctor can be daunting and almost impossible. A van would solve so many of these problems.
Mountains of Love is a Colorado non-profit Corporation – Every dollar donated to Mountains of Love goes directly to the school.
